Pollinator 2018 pushed the boundaries of office design, exploring agility, flexibility, and human-centric workspaces. As the second annual pop-up, the mission was to elevate the concept of an experimental living lab while educating the community on the future of work. A+E Design Lab, in collaboration with ctrl+shift+space, took on the challenge of transforming a 5,000 sq. ft. retail shell into an interactive workplace experience—within just six weeks.

This innovative interior design project required securing a donated vacant suite, gathering sponsors, and curating a collection of furnishings that aligned with the concept of adaptability. The space featured mobile, ‘hackable’ products from leading furniture manufacturers, as well as locally crafted pieces, allowing users to customize their environment for maximum productivity and comfort.

Designed to coincide with Portland’s Design Week Festival, Pollinator 2018 served as both an educational experience and a hands-on showcase of progressive workplace design.
